What is irritable bowel syndrome?

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a disorder whose symptoms include abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhea, etc., and patient has to live with anxiety.

Sometimes it causes constipation and sometimes diarrhea i.e., watery stool starts coming without infection. Due to these symptoms, it becomes difficult for the patient to live easily. For this, the patient has to change his lifestyle along with the medicines prescribed by the doctor.
Foods that cause discomfort to the patient or cause symptoms of IBS should be avoided or greatly reduced.

How is bottle gourd for IBS patients?

Eating bottle gourd whether it is in the form of curry or its sweet cannot reduce the symptoms of IBS. Consuming this vegetable can causes gas complaints in patients along with abdominal cramping.

Another thing to note is that eating bottle gourd does not cause IBS symptoms in some people. It also depends on which species of bottle gourd is being eaten. If a normal bottle gourd is being used, such as a round bottle gourd, it will definitely show symptoms. If bottle gourd long with more length is made into curry and eaten, then there are less chances of symptoms appearing.

It also depends on what other items you are adding in bottle gourd at the time of cooking.
This means that if you are eating foods with bottle gourd that are currently helping to reduce your symptoms, then you can eat it. On the other hand, if you are using it with plain bottle gourd. Be prepared to cope with the symptoms of IBS.

How to reduce symptoms caused by eating bottle gourd

If you have been eating bottle gourd and are starting to develop symptoms, the following steps may help.

  • Use of medicines prescribed by the doctor
  • Fennel and cinnamon coffee
  • Turn the water bottle on the stomach
  • Eat Ice cream

First of all, use the medicines prescribed by the doctor. Make coffee with fennel and cinnamon at home and drink it. If you feel that your stomach is heavy, use hot water to it. Simple ice cream also can give benefits in the symptoms of IBS.
